A Chocolate nutty smoothie for breakfast?! Tastes like a treat but is actually super healthy? I’m SOLD!This is a total winner in my house because I have such a sweet tooth. Yes, even at 8am I’m always keen for sweet treat!
The kids will love this, and you will feel good knowing that you are giving them a good start to the day. It has everything covered from your protein to iron, your carbs and even healthy fats plus much more!
All you need is 3 minutes to put it together and some key ingredients, which can be used for many other things too.
Other than a good blender you will need…
1 banana – I like to have my chopped up in the freezer so it is nice and cold. It’s a great substitute for ice cream!
1 heaped teaspoon of raw organic cacao powder
1 tablespoon of your choice of nut butter. Most people use peanut or almond butter
3 whole almonds – you can add more if you like!
3/4 cup of old fashion oats
1-2 cups of your choice of milk – I like to use unsweetened almond milk
Blend together until smooth, pour, and then drink your glass of pure heaven!
Alternative options include:
Add protein powder (chocolate goes nice)
Cacao nibs for decoration
Add a few more almonds for crunch and extra goodies!
If you like it thick, then add 2x frozen bananas instead of one. Decorate with nuts, banana and cacao nibs with a little sprinkle of coconut flakes and chia seeds, and you have yourself a smoothie bowl – or a healthy pudding! Get creative!
In this smoothie alone you will benefit from:
- Antioxidants
- Iron
- Magnesium
- Calcium
- Protein
- Healthy fats
- Zinc
- Vitamins
And many more! It’s something a bit better and nicer than a bit of toast.
Enjoy,
